“Surface Design encompasses the coloring, patterning, and structuring of fiber and fabric. This involves Creative exploration of processes such as dyeing , painting, printing, stitching, embellishing, quilting, weaving, knitting, felting, and papermaking.” – Surface Design Association
The Utah Surface Design Group (USDG) was established in the early 1990’s when a small group of fiber enthusiasts, textile artists, and teachers came together to share their passion for surface design. I has always been the group’s mission to provide a supportive, creative, community where the exchange of ideas and information is paramount.
The USDG conducts bi-monthly Meetings with demonstrations by local artists and business owners. To encourage creative exploration and growth, the group also hosts workshops taught by nationally known artists in the Surface Design field. Anyone with an interest in Surface Design is welcome to join the group.
USDG meets the 3rd Wednesday of every other month at the Salt Lake City/County Complex, Room 4017 from 7 -9:30 p.m. 2001 S. State Street, Salt Lake City, NE Entrance
